Post 1: 23 October 2010

disclaimer: This is not going to be a sappy, serious, or sentimental blog. In the grand tradition of myself it will most likely be a compilation of hilarious anecdotes in which I get myself into situations that only I could possibly manage on such a regular basis.

Beginning January 22, I will be embarking on a 4-Country, year long excursion to, as my Dad will repeat every time we discuss it, "the homeland."

Now, I was.

May-June 2010: Russia

But upcoming is...

January -April: Czech Republic
May-June: Belgium
July-August: Austria
September-December: Hungary

The first couple of blog posts in here will recap Russia, and chronicle my preparations.

So, I'm going transatlantic for a year + to "find myself." I absolutely hate saying that because it is exceedingly cliche and way too "Eat Pray Love" for me to refrain from nausea and images of myself morphing into the tights-as-pants wearing girlfriend of a hipster or a bitter, disenchanted, housewife at a book club meeting. (that guy who walked by smelled of Gain so strongly I would venture to say it was ridiculous. ...and I love Gain) Nonetheless, I can't think of another suitable phrase.
Right now, for my orientation registration, I have to give an academic, cultural, and personal goal for this little venture. What the hell am I supposed to say for personal goal!? If you have any clue let me know because I'm about to write, "take my fabulosity to new levels and cultivate my already pretentious personality."

Anyway, This blog will contain the tales of my travels. enjoy.
